Metal Building Sustainability | How Steel Is Recycled

There are many benefits to use a steel building for your next project rather than a traditional timber building.

They are more cost efficient in the long-term, they require little routine maintenance and upkeep, they construct quickly, and they last for generations.

They are also very eco-friendly.

Steel buildings produce fewer emissions when they're being constructed, they are more energy efficient because of the insulation and painting options, and they last longer, so there's no need to rebuild or repair.

They also don't use as many resources during construction.

If you frame your house using pine, the average home requires 22 full grown pine trees just for the frame.

When you take all the extras into account, like hardwood floors, cabinets, furniture, etc. could easily double the number of trees used.

When all is said and done, you're looking at 50 mature pine trees being used in the construction of one home. In large developments, the number of trees needed for construction adds up quickly.

And once you've used the lumber, it can't be recycled. You can plant a new tree, and wait years and years for it to grow, but you can't reuse the tree you've already cut down.

This is where steel buildings have a significant advantage.

There are obviously zero trees needed to construct a steel building.

And, since steel is the most recycled product in the world, once you're done with it, you can recycle it, and it becomes something else.

That's not the case with lumber.

In the article below, we will give you an overview of recycling metal, it's importance, and the various processes.

How To Finance Your New Metal Building

There's a lot of information out there about home loans and mortgage options, but when it comes to finding information about new construction loans, it's not quite as easy to get the information that you need.

Financing your metal building, however, is no different from financing a traditional wood-framed structure.

In fact, because of their durability and longevity, choosing a pre-engineered metal building could even make you a more appealing loan candidate.

If you're using your metal building on a farm or a ranch, you might even be able to use special grants and/or loan offers from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. You can find out more about that on the USDA website.

No matter what you plan on using your metal building for, there is a financing option available for you.

In the article below, we'll discuss several of those options, and we'll talk about a few additional considerations, so you're prepared when the time comes.

Should I Invest In A Metal Building Or Add On To My Current Building?

It's not uncommon for a business to outgrow their initial facilities.

It's actually a good sign if you do because needing more space typically means you've accomplished some level of success.

But, when that time comes, it means you have to make a pretty big decision: do you move your business into a new facility, or do you expand your existing facilities.

If you chose to use a metal building to set up your business in when you first started, you're in luck. Either option is realistic for you.

People who have timber buildings will find it more difficult to expand their current facilities, whereas metal buildings are easily expandable.

Even if you do have a metal building, it can still be a tough decision to make with many factors to consider.

In the article below, we'll look at a few of the factors you should consider when making that decision, and then we'll talk about expanding your metal building.
